Firewall for the Samsung NC10
When choosing firewall software for your NC10 you need to consider:
- Required System Resources
The NC10 has limited system resources with its small atom processor. You need to make sure you are not using firewall software that is bloated and inefficient.
- Cost
Given the number of quality free firewalls available I would say that it is unncessary to pay for protection on your NC10 if it is for personal use.
- Quality of Protection
Modern internet security software needs to protect not only against hackers and external threats but also against internal malicious software to prevent it from accessing your network, your internet connection and some software will even protect your important system processes from being interfered with.
- Ease of Use
Nobody wants firewall software that constantly hassles them with notifcations. Firewalls needs to learn quickly and work quietly.
My Recommendation For the NC10: PC Tools Firewall Plus

PC Tools Firewall Plus is a great little firewall application thats free, wont chew up your system resources and provides all the protection your ever going to need for your NC10. After a settling in period in which you have to ocassionally authorise internet access for programs you haven't run before this firewall will quietly protect you for no cost.
ZoneAlarm is another excellent free alternative and is equally as good.

Hi, tried the PC Tools Firewall but found it slowed down my NC10 significantly (esp. boot up time)! I finally went for COMODO Internet Security which offer both antivirus & firewall in the same package. It's very light on the system, and so far I'm well pleased with it. It's free, too!

I have heard good things about COMODO however ,having tried it on my desktop PC, I didn't like the interface and I still prefer PC Tools or Zonealarm. I moved from Zonealarm after a couple of botched updates caused me some problems, despite this it's definately a solid firewall and a credible alternative for those not happy with pc tools.
